The city of Erbil is the capital of the Kurdish Autonomous region of Iraq, and an emerging economic and political center in the region. RNL prepared a master plan for a new 59 hectare ‘downtown’ district that will become the new business, commercial and residential center of the city. The plan includes two new signature hotel and office towers and over 1.5 million square meters of new development, including 4,000 residential units clustered around a new urban park and plaza that will become the social heart of the district. RNL is leading the master planning, detailed architectural design and sustainability standards, and the design of the public realm and parks.
