Principal/Abu Dhabi Office Lead

Jess Alexander is an accomplished landscape architect specializing in urban design and master planning, particularly in the Middle East North Africa region. He has earned a reputation for leading and managing complex master planning and design efforts.

As a Principal and an urban designer in RNL’s Abu Dhabi office, Jess has developed a focus on design and project leadership for a variety of new cities, communities and developments in the region. Designing communities from the ground up has proven a unique opportunity to implement some of the newest and most innovative sustainable and wellness-related design practices.

Some of Jess’s more notable projects include the design and documentation of a 500-acre LEED-Neighborhood Development US Green Building Council pilot project, for example. He is also currently working on Dubai South – The Villages, a project driven by the goal of fostering happiness in residents. He is well-versed in the latest sustainable design guidelines and programs such as the Estidama - Pearl Rating System and the Sustainable Sites Initiative.

One of the best things about working with Jess is that he’s not afraid of a challenge – from becoming a professional skier before graduate school to earning dual Master of Landscape Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning degrees to competing in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. This attitude made Jess a natural choice when RNL was looking for the right person to head up the Abu Dhabi office. Outside the office, Jess is a member of Lambda Alpha International – UAE Chapter and enjoys the travel opportunities his post allows, including destinations throughout southeast Asia and an unforgettable Africa safari through the Kruger National Park bush.
