LA Metro Division 14 Wins Honorable Mention at 40th Annual Source Awards
Eaton’s 40th Annual Source Awards were announced on May 8, 2017, during an awards luncheon at Lightfair, which took place in Philadelphia. The program, which debuted in 1977, recognizes both professional and student work and “focuses on furthering the understanding, knowledge, and function of lighting as a primary element in design and requires the predominant use of lighting and controls products from Eaton’s lighting solutions.”
Artist Janet Echelman, was the luncheon keynote speaker. In her talk, titled “Illuminated Cities,” she described the net sculptures she has developed over the past 18 years and how their forms—with thousands of hand-tied knots—create a new kind of experience and interaction for people with the urban illuminated environment.
This year’s Source Awards included six awards in the professional categories—two winners and four honorable mentions. In the student categories, there was one winner, five honorable mentions, and one award of recognition.
