The design concept for the new UMB LoDo branch was to create an open, fresh space that was comfortable and efficient for this regional bank. With 19’-10” high windows that fill almost two full sides of the space, creating a functional layout was a challenge in this small space. All employee spaces were moved to the outer perimeter to allow the public space to be at the front and take advantage of the natural daylight.

Catering to the urban clientele in the Lower Downtown area, a sleek modern feel was created through the use of finishes, forms, and layout. Much attention was paid to careful detailing within the space. The design for this bank creates the sense of stability while maintaining a high-tech appearance.

Contrasting the high volume space, a more intimate waiting area was created by bringing the visual scale down with floor lamps and lighter scale lounge seating. The adjacent wall hung glass and quartz credenza served as a client coffee bar with a plasma screen beyond. Throughout the space, a balance of metal millwork and 10’-0” interior glazing and sliding doors were combined with warm neutral carpet and soothing blue hues which reflect the UMB’s color.
