The Research Support Facility (RSF) is a significant building for U.S. Department of Energy and National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The 222,000 square foot RSF has become a national showcase designed to demonstrate how high-performance buildings can be aesthetically compelling and acquired at a competitive first-cost and lifecycle cost. Not only is the RSF designed to meet the LEED® Platinum rating as defined by the U.S. Green Buildings Council, it is also on course to be the first net-zero energy building (ZEB) of its kind. The Research Support Facility demonstrates the integration of high performance design features and practices, showcases technology advances, and captures the public’s imagination for renewable and energy efficient technologies.

The design/build team of RNL and Haselden Construction was selected for this project through a multi-stage design competition.
