BUS FACILITIES

East Valley Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility

TEMPE, ARIZONA

Built on a 23-acre parcel of land, this complex provides a better working environment for the transit service employees who operate, maintain and service the 250 buses located there. The facility includes administrative offices, operations/driver facilities for 500-plus bus operators, a bus maintenance building, canopies to shade parked buses and a full LNG/CNG fueling center with fare retrieval and bus wash. Two major buildings are situated on the site along an east-west axis to take advantage of proper solar orientation. The project, which earned LEED-NC Gold certification for both its administration and maintenance components, is the first Gold-certified transit maintenance facility in the nation.
