NREL RSF Expansion
GOLDEN, COLORADO
RNL and Haselden were selected to expand the recently completed Research Support Facility (RSF), which the team also designed and constructed. The four-story, 138,000-sf expansion complements the LEED-NC Platinum, net-zero energy design of the original structured, while improving upon many of the original structure’s sustainable features. These include 6% more efficient roof-top photovoltaic panels; improved thermal performance; reduced thermal bridging; upgraded window and lighting controls; and increased flexibility in mechanical systems integration.
