NORAD/USSPACECOM & USARSPACECOM

PETERSON AFB, COLORADO

Space Command headquarters consists of two buildings constructed adjacent to the Air Force Space Command headquarters at Peterson Air Force Base. Both structural steel-framed buildings have two stories with basements and are situated to form an entry courtyard that offers access from parking and eases pedestrian traffic moving from building to building. Despite their proximity, the two buildings have different architectural characters. The Army building is angular and more complex compared to the NORAD/USSPACECOM building, which is more lineal and has more economies of scale through structural repetition. The Army building features a green-colored exterior, while the other is silver.
