Nancy
Hughes-Allen
Interior Designer
As a designer, Nancy Hughes-Allen brings over 20 years of experience creating spaces that reflect a holistic approach: mindful of environmental impact, conducive to human health and wellness, and supportive of client goals.
Nancy joined RNL’s Interior Design team in 1992. Since that time, she has developed strong expertise in the areas of project coordination, design development, space planning, programming, materials selection, furniture specification, and on-site coordination. Applying her background in psychology and human services, Nancy brings a unique perspective to her project work that results in a more thoughtful approach to occupant health.
In her role as Senior Associate, Nancy works on a variety of project types including corporate, civic/government offices, higher education, transportation facilities, mixed use, healthcare, and hospitality. Nancy enjoys the complexity of large projects and is particularly adept at creating strong working relationships between internal studios, clients, and vendors to arrive at integrated and collaborative design solutions. She has been involved in a number of high-profile projects across RNL’s Denver, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles offices, including the City of Denver’s Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building, Metropolitan State University’s Student Success Building and the University of Colorado at Denver Business School. Nancy is currently working on the redevelopment of Denver Water’s Operations Complex, a 160,000 square foot, 36-acre site. An integral member of the project design team, Nancy is helping Denver Water create one of the most progressive and environmentally conscious administrative buildings in the country, and achieve LEED Platinum and Net Zero Energy goals.
When Nancy is not in the office, she enjoys camping, fishing and hiking with her family, particularly in the Mosquito Range of Colorado. She also enjoys traveling in Europe, and especially touring the Route des Vins of France and the Salzkammergut region of Austria.
