This expansion of the First Bank Headquarters building provides improved amenities to enhance staff wellbeing
Pursuing LEED Gold
First Bank’s objective was to consolidate management operations that are currently housed in three separate locations into an expansion that would update their corporate image and the quality of their office space. The current headquarters building dates from 1995 with an expansion in 2003. This new project doubles the size of the headquarters building with a five hundred car parking structure, all on the existing site. The design approach to the site is to establish a campus that can expand with additional development to the east. The concept takes advantage of new city zoning that intends to encourage development of a more urban character than the stand-alone suburban office building on the site today. The new building facing Colfax Avenue creates a courtyard, a campus green with flows between the new building and the old building.
RNL began the project with a detailed programming phase documenting the planned staff of 900 plus expansion. Company office standards were reevaluated and interior planning focused on open flexible layouts that include areas to enhance collaboration of staff. The old building’s outdated entrance and lobby were renovated into a conferencing and training center. The new building lobby is the focal point of the remodeled building, featuring a contemporary “Colorado Company” design image by using rich materials such as printed glass, textured feature walls, and wood paneling. A fitness facility and a company café are included in the amenities to enhance staff wellbeing. The new office wing will provide ample interior day lighting and advanced HVAC systems to maximize both user comfort and energy efficiency. The building is designed to be LEED Gold certified.
