Two major buildings are situated on the site along an east-west axis to take advantage of proper solar orientation. The City of Tempe has made a strong commitment to sustainability, and thus the project was designed with sustainable design techniques, with the end result being that the project was the first bus maintenance and operations facility in the nation to be certified as a LEED Gold facility.
