A timeless, purposeful space with layered transparency creating physical connections and interactions between employees.
BakerHostetler, an international, full service law firm, relocated to the newly updated 1801 California Street building. With that move came the opportunity to design a timeless, purposeful space with layered transparency and intricate detailing.
Remarkable views of both mountain and cityscape await visitors upon entry to the space. A blend of glass, intricate marble floor patterning, and wood ceiling and wall elements create a refined, elegant palette that reinforce the geometry of the building and maximize the views. A grand staircase was created to bridge the two floors and to create a physical connection and interaction opportunity between employees. The stair is the focal point of the reception space, with two-story glass fins and marque conference room beyond.
Wood surrounds create thresholds and visual interest to the office fronts, while changes in ceiling above the secretarials promote an intimate, approachable environment in the back of house areas. Newly commissioned and relocated art was integrated and accommodated throughout the space.
