Rich von Luhrte, FAIA, is a Principal of RNL Design with 28 years of experience in the planning, design and administration of complex projects with diverse requirements and includes a particular emphasis on urban design and city planning. As one of four Directors of RNL Design, he is responsible for urban planning and design projects, marketing/business development and overall management.

Philip Goedert, AIA, is a Principal with experience including projects totaling over 10 million square feet in facilities/program planning and architectural design. Among these projects are governmental, educational, laboratory, criminal justice, financial, and corporate facilities. As one of four Directors of RNL Design, Phil is responsible for the overall management of the firm.

Florian Walicki brings more than 20 years of institutional architectural experience to RNL Design. He is a Principal of the firm and directs the Institutional Studio. Florian has been active in many corrections projects of all sizes and at all levels of government, including federal, state, county, and municipal. A major portion of Florian's noteworthy expertise lies in special needs and SVP facilities, in particular juvenile detention. He has also been successful at managing long-range needs assessments and creating criminal justice masterplans, specifically at the state and county levels.

Ev Micou, AIA, is an Associate Principal at RNL Design and a specialist in broadcasting, telecommunications, media and micro electronics facility design. Having designed numerous major television and radio stations. Ev's firm, Micou Design Group, achieved national recognition in this highly specialized design field. His experience in the field includes adjacency analysis, systems integration, facility masterplanning, site analysis and feasibility study. RNL's recent merger with Micou's Phoenix firm enhances the capabilities of RNL's Arizona office. Ev Micou is a valuable and effective leader. In addition to his specialty areas of practice, Ev will provide additional management and leadership to the growing Arizona office of RNL Design.

Richard Anderson, AIA, joined RNL Design in 1979 and is a Principal of the firm and Head of the Design Technology Studio. He has nearly 30 years of award-winning experience and has managed and directed many of RNL Design's significant projects including the Colorado's Ocean Journey Aquarium and the Rocky Mountain News Headquarters Building. As Head of Design Technology, he is charged with keeping RNL Design on the cutting edge of quality project delivery, making sure our projects are always delivered on time, on budget and provide the highest levels of technical excellence and satisfaction for our clients.

Dick Shiffer, AIA, is a Principal of RNL Design with 24 years experience including the last 17 with RNL Design. Dick is recognized nationally as an expert in transit, public works, and religious projects. He has personally planned and/or managed many of the firm's transit/public works maintenance facilities and most of the firm's recent church projects. His experience includes projects for transit agencies, cities, counties and the federal government throughout the U.S.

Joshua Gould has been with RNL Design since 1985 and is a Principal of the firm. He brings over 16 years of experience in strategic facilities planning, architectural and interior design to his role as Director of the firm's Corporate Studio. He serves as Project Principal on the studio's corporate office, healthcare and high technology/laboratory facilities. He is very involved in the development of strategic alliances with corporate clients and is a frequent presenter on the topic of strategic facilities planning to professional organizations.

Karl Berg, FAIA, brings forty years of professional experience to RNL Design, where he is head of educational and healthcare related projects at RNL Design. He has dedicated an exceptional four-decade career to design excellence. He is an associate Principal at RNL Design and a strong leader in the Denver community Karl, has been recognized with countless professional awards and honors, believes that clear communication and effective management combine to produce excellence in architectural design. A tireless and tenacious problem-solver, Karl Berg has been a major force in architectural innovation, and recognized by the American Institute of Architects and other professional associations for his outstanding contributions to the profession. Many of his designs are reflected in projects in downtown Denver as well as throughout the Denver Metro area. In 1993 the AIA elevated Karl to its highest distinction -- membership in the College of Fellowsfor his contribution to the profession. He was previously a principal with the firm Hoover Berg Desmond.

Chuck Boxwell, AIA, is based in the California Office and is a registered architect with more than 27 years of experience, 19 exclusively in Justice Architecture. He is an Associate Principal at RNL Design. He has managed the planning, design and construction of many major justice and other institutional projects for the past 23 years. Chuck's criminal justice design experience includes jail, prison and courthouse projects totaling more than 15,000 beds and 150 courtrooms, with more than one billion dollars in total construction costs. His experience and leadership in facility development include architectural programming, master planning, conceptual design, development of design, preparation of construction documents, and construction contract administration.

An active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on Architecture for Justice (CAJ) since 1982, Mr. Boxwell assumed a leadership position on the committee as its Chairman for 1998. Chuck was also the Chairman of the Second International Conference on Courthouse Design, co-sponsored by the AIA/CAJ and the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), held in San Francisco in October of 1995. He was a key planning team member of and presenter at the Third International Conference on Courthouse Design held in Toronto in September of 1998.

Russ Keeler, P.E., ACEC, a Principal and studio director for Engineering, has more than 30 years of experience in the design and management of all aspects of the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, computer wiring, and process piping. He has extensive design experience with and is active nationally on standards for low temperature air, ice storage and moisture control systems.

Leslie Bethel is a Principal at RNL Design and heads the Urban Design and Landscape Architecture Studio. She has more than 20 years of professional experience in community planning, site design and implementation. Her current work includes projects throughout Colorado, Nevada, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Idaho. Identifying economic opportunities within a community's vision while enhancing the unique built and natural character is a typical aspect of her planning and design work. Leslie has developed a process that focuses on workshops designed to educate and promote involvement and support for goals developed through the workshop process. This consensus building approach is crucial to bringing a planning vision to implementation.

Steve Newman, AIA, has practiced architecture for over 23 years and as one of four Directors and a Principal, he leads the firm's design direction in all aspects of architectural and interior design. His experience includes hotel and resort design, office buildings and corporate interior projects. He is the director of the Colorado Studio and has been instrumental in developing long-term relationships with both public sector and private clients alike. These long-term, multiple project relationships have drawn on the full range of RNL's planning and design services.

Martin Eiss is an Associate Principal at RNL Design in the Colorado Studio. Since joining RNL Design in 1983, Martin has been involved in many architecture, interior design, and urban planning projects. His primary focus has been in public sector work including higher education and local government facilities. His major work has included projects for the cities of Boulder, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Lakewood, and Gunnison. Martin has also managed significant projects at the Colorado School of Mines, and the University of Colorado at Boulder and Colorado Springs.

Roger Maynard, AIA, is an Associate Principal at RNL Design and a recognized expert in laboratory design. Prior to joining RNL Design he was principal owner of a highly successful firm specializing in laboratory design throughout the United States. In 1995, Maynard joined RNL Design and developed a niche practice within the larger corporate studio. He has been responsible for over 1.5 million square feet of lab projects from coast to coast, with special knowledge in process driven analytical and research and development laboratories. He has expertise in technical project facilities design, such as engineering scale and chemical production facilities. He has also designed more than 2.5 million square feet of office buildings, with special emphasis on those with either technical service, or laboratory related design focus.
