Eight teams from local design and architectural firms were asked to create movie vignettes for this Denver Art Museum fundraiser, installing them in the capacious interior of the Wings Over the Rockies aviation museum. RNL's movie, "Lost in Translation" inspired the team to go beyond a literal recreation of the movie's scenes and instead to capture the feelings and experiences of the movie’s characters.
RNL's designers created a series of blurry planes and stirring projections to create an energetic cityscape that is both familiar and strange. Seductively engaging, the scene encourages participants to explore every avenue and corner, hide behind the lights, get lost in the masses, be voyeuristic. Objects are integral to the scene, enticing participants just as a shop window draws crowds from the streets. Some things seem real, others not; the vignette invites you in for the translation.
