PRET A PORTER
MAY 16, 2008

RNL won Best of Show among over 40 entries in the fourth annual Pret-a-Porter (French for “Ready-to-Wear”), sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the International Interior Design Association.

In this event, designers take products used in design and architecture and create wearable fashion. Products used in the garments range from carpet to paint, lighting and tile.
RNL’s product in 2008 was Armstrong vinyl composition tiles, which were cut into 3/8” squares and drilled with a hole in the center. The 6000 tiles were laser cut by Plasticare, Inc., arranged into a mosaic pattern and hand sewn to create an image of Marilyn Monroe.

Design team members were Gabrielle Buglewicz, who provided sketches for the design, Sydney Hamilton, Michelle Richter, Rene Stremel, Jennifer Toll and Mary Beth Caccitolo, who modeled the ensemble.
